This site was not designed to exclude ANYone! It was simply created to be a place of support for mothers-of-color, those raising children of color, as well as fathers, grandparents, or even friends who want to support the positive upbringing of brown children. This site deals with the unique challenges these families face.

The site got its name from the terminology my children use to describe themselves. At two, my daughter was learning colors and exclaimed that her skin was brown. And, she told me I'm a brown mommy. Can't argue with that! Brown is also the combination of so many other colors, it's a rich and bold color, and it represents earth, which is often referred to as mother.
